History

Group “Studija” creates and works in the seaport town Klaipeda in Lithuania . This year for the group turns 27 years. It is a really long time for the musical collective in the show business, that is why “Studija” is regarded as one of the oldest and master group on the scene in Lithuania .
At the moment the group is compound of these musicians:

Gintautas Litinskas – bass guitar, vocal, composer, arranger, sound engineer.
Raimondas Jonutis – keyboards, back vocal.
Virginijus Pazemeckas – guitar, back vocal, composer, arranger, sound engineer.
Valdas Galdikas – drums.
Steponas Januska – lead vocal, composer, producer.

The group “Studija” was established in Tirksliai Township , Mazeikiai district, autumn of 1978 during a bee of the students. The group was established by: Gintautas Litinskas, Steponas Januska, Virginijus Pazemeckas and Raimondas Jonutis. At the moment all of them studied in Jazz music department in Klaipeda Faculty of Vilnius conservatoire (now Klaipeda University , the faculy of arts, the jazz music department).
The first official concert, which had been played out in the 9 th of November in 1979 in the Hall of Klaipeda cultural centre, on the occasion of the Day of Students, were presented the pieces of Gentle Giants, UFO, etc.
The first concert consisted of these musicians:

Steponas Januska – vocal, clarinet, baritone saxophone 
Valdas Balynas – xylophone 
Aleksandras Arakcejevas – drums
Gintas Staleriunas – guitar 
Arvydas Mikalauskas – trumpet, violin.

This band of students prepared lots of concert and competitive programmes till the spring of 1982. They won lots of prizes and awards in different festivals and contests. The part had been taken in these festivals: student festivals “Opus 80, 81, 82”, the Autumn of Vitebsk. The main styles were jazz/rock and soul. But also there were included different compositions of rock in the programme.
During the period of students from 1978 till 1982 the group was composed of these musicians:

The group looks for different creative solutions and it is shown by wide and affluent repertory of the group. To say the truth the group “Studija” can play music for many hours in different styles and for the most fastidious listeners. Most of these songs are jolly, convivial or warm and dreamy, created by the group. However, big part of the repertory is composed of famous world composers’ pieces in English and other languages. There you can hear: evergreen, rock’n’roll, blues, soul, pop, jazz or raggea styles. (more)
